How Pilates Teacher Trainings Work: A Modular Approach That Fits Your Life

If you’ve been around the studio for a while, you’ve probably heard us mention our Balanced Body Teacher Trainings. But recently, we realized something important: even our most engaged members didn’t fully understand how the teacher trainings work and how they are structured.

Balanced Body’s Modular Teacher Training Approach

Balanced Body’s education model is modular, which means you don’t have to commit to an all-at-once, immersive program. Instead, you build your training piece by piece. You can dip a toe, see how the teacher trainings work and feel it out before committing to becoming a Pilates teacher. Some students enjoy just learning more about Pilates and the method.

Each module is a focused weekend, either Friday-Sunday, or Saturday-Sunday, dedicated to a specific Pilates apparatus. After each module, you are expected to go home and practice. This structure allows you to integrate what you learn in real time, rather than rushing through information.

It also means you can you can start with the first module whenever you’re ready, see how teacher trainings work. Pause if life gets full. And pick them back up! Just keep practicing in between so you don’t loose momentum.

There’s no single “track”, it’s a progression you shape around your life. The best place to start if you’re interested is with Movement Principles + Pilates Essentials. Even if you’re not sure about teaching, this fundamental course will teach you a lot about the movement science behind the Pilates method.

Teacher Trainings on Repeat

At Pure Movement, we run the Balanced Body trainings on a continuous loop. That means every year, we cycle through all modules and then start again. So if you miss something? You don’t fall behind. You just catch it next time around.

But how do I build Teacher Trainings? And toward what end?

It really depends on where you’re headed, teaching-wise. But start with the Level 1s and move on from there as you start to figure it out. In example:

You just want to build your Pilates foundation:

How Teacher Training Modules Work

This modular system isn’t just convenient schedule-wise, it’s intentional. Modules apply repetition to help you learn and develop your teaching skills overtime. Not in one rush. You will revisit concepts in each of the modules. After each module, you are expected to practice, observe and teach, so you get better at it before layering more information and exercises, which can be daunting and overwhelming to learn all at once.

Come as You Are, Teach As You Go

You can begin with Movement Principles and simply see how it feels. From there, you build slowly, steadily, and with intention. And because we’re always cycling through the modules, the door is always open. Whether you’re curious, committed, or somewhere in between Teacher Trainings can help you decide how you want to teach, plus a lot about your personal Pilates journey.
