Certified Pilates Reformer and Mat Instructor
Originally from Prince Edward Island, Canada, Chloe was introduced to Pilates as part of her ballet training, but she quickly realized that it was much more than that. She fell in love with the Pilates method's ability to benefit everyone, regardless of age or experience; whether being used as a cross-training tool, a rehab program, or just a way to keep moving.
Chloe began her teaching journey at Calgary Pilates in Alberta, Canada, where she received her Stott Pilates certifications in mat and reformer. Alongside these certifications, she completed courses in functional anatomy, working with special populations, and advanced matwork. She became an instructor with Refine Pilates Method, at the same time teaching Pilates workshops for advanced-level dancers at local studios.
When she made the move to Virginia to begin her professional ballet career, Chloe carried her love of Pilates with her, joining the team at Center Street Pilates and teaching Pilates classes at the Virginia National Ballet School. She also began teaching virtual Pilates classes, working with clients across the United States, Canada, and Australia.
Now, Chloe is thrilled to be in Fort Wayne doing the two things she loves: performing with Fort Wayne Ballet, and teaching Pilates at Pure Movement! She feels blessed to be able to share her passion for movement education here in Fort Wayne.
What do you think is the most unique quality of Pilates as a mindful movement?
A strength of Pilates that's often not present in other training methods is its focus on properly using the core and abdominals. I have seen a massive difference in people's ability to move when they're educated on the abdominal muscles, what each one does, and how to use them in balance to stabilize the spine.
Currently, what is your favorite Pilates exercise on any apparatus?
I love Spine Twist on the Reformer! It mobilizes the upper back, activates the entire core, and is accessible to anyone of any skill level.
What excites you most about teaching Pilates?
My most exciting moments teaching are when I get to see movements "click" for people: when a cue makes sense in their body, and they get to experience an exercise or activate a muscle in a way they never have before!
