Tatum Farlow
Apprentice Pilates Instructor
Tatum first discovered Pilates after multiple ankle injuries from rigorous dance training in high school. Pilates allowed her to become injury-free and successfully graduate from the Ballet Memphis School. Tatum attended Butler University with a dance major and graduated in 2019 with a BFA. She is now a professional dancer with the Fort Wayne Ballet, performing in shows such as Swan Lake, Dracula, and Giselle.
Tatum has Pilates Mat and Barre certifications through Stott Pilates and has completed Reformer 1 through Balanced Body. She enjoys teaching Pilates to help others with injury prevention and recovery.
Outside the studio, Tatum enjoys canoeing, swimming, and spending time with family and friends.
About Tatum
What do you feel is the most unique quality of Pilates as a mindful movement?
Pilates requires a high level of concentration and body awareness. These skills are some of the important components that make up mindfulness.
Currently, what is your favorite Pilates exercise, on any apparatus?
Currently, my favorite exercise is footwork on the reformer.
What tickles you most about teaching Pilates?
What excites me most about teaching Pilates is the ability to share practices and exercises that can improve people’s pain management, range of motion and overall quality of life. I love that Pilates looks at the overall health of the individual, and does not reduce someone to just their outside appearance.
