Maddie Nichols
Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher
Maddie began her Pilates journey in 2015 after a tailbone and low back injury. As a lifelong tennis player, she noticed that the Pilates method significantly increased her core strength while also decreasing her low back pain. Because of this, Maddie was able to play club tennis throughout her collegiate career at Butler University.
In 2019, Maddie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Production. Soon after, Maddie moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and entertainment. Like most things, the pandemic altered her original plans, and she found herself back in her hometown of Fort Wayne, looking for alternative career plans. With her love of fitness, wellness, and mental health, Maddie was drawn to teaching Pilates and decided to pursue a Pilates Comprehensive Certification through Polestar. In December 2022, Maddie successfully tested out and is now certified in the reformer, trapeze table, barrels, chair, and mat. In May 2023, Maddie became a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher.
When Maddie’s not at the studio, she loves playing tennis and pickleball, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
About Maddie
What do you feel is the most unique quality of Pilates as a mindful movement?
I appreciate that Pilates is all about the mind, body, and spirit. I think it really encourages and improves self-awareness. Pilates helps you to understand your body, how it moves, and what it feels like throughout mindful movement. I think with self-awareness comes more self-confidence. I love how Pilates makes you feel stronger and more proud of yourself. It's not about the number of reps or how fast you do something, but it really is about flow and continuity.
Currently, what is your favorite Pilates exercise, on any apparatus?
My favorite exercise right now is the Parakeet on the Trapeze Table. It is so fun and if you haven't tried it before, you know where to find me. 🙂
What tickles you most about teaching Pilates?
I love working with people. Pilates is truly beneficial for all people no matter the age, the fitness level, or what injuries or pathologies they may bring when they come to our studio. Pilates is life changing and I love to see people grow, improve, and enjoy their private session and/or group classes.
