Elizabeth Mikautadze

Elizabeth Mikautadze has been exploring movement and dancing since the age of three.  Elizabeth was chosen to study abroad at The Hungarian Ballet School prior to graduating high school.  She was accepted into The Boston Conservatory where she earned her BFA in Dance.  Before graduating, she spent a summer at The Milwaukee Ballet.  Elizabeth lived in NYC and has studied at the Paul Taylor School, The Alvin Ailey Dance Center, and at The Martha Graham Dance Center.  She was accepted as a Martha Graham trainee and later as a Martha Graham Ensemble member.  In 2000 Elizabeth joined Mereminne Dancers and danced with Buglisi/Foreman Dance Company.  While in New York, Elizabeth received her Gyrotonic Certification and was employed at Studio Riverside in NY where she trained  professional dancers (some NYC ballet dancers!), athletes,  and  many other “Gyro” enthusiasts.  She continued to deepen her Gyrotonic knowledge by watching and learning  from Master Teachers, Juliu Horvath(inventor of Gyrotonic Expansion System), Matt Aversa, and Leda Franklin.  Elizabeth continues her journey here in Fort Wayne , IN.  She has taught ballet and modern technique classes and workshops at The Fort Wayne Dance Collective,  New American Youth Ballet, Tri -County Dance Academy, and IPFW, where she will join the Theatre Department as adjunct Dance faculty in Fall 2011.  She became artistic director and founder of Mikautadze Dance Theatre(MDT) in May 2008.  Elizabeth is thrilled about the opportunity to help people achieve wellness and physical prowess through Gyrotonic.
